In this story, a society decides to isolate people into cells, with limited communication between them, designating certain specially-trained people as liaisons to spend a limited amount of time each month sharing with the immediately adjacent cells. This is meant to limit the spread of catchy, popular ideas, and to encourage unity and distinctive culture within the cells. It’s inconclusive whether this is at all worth it.
