Learn About the Contract
Remember the Conversation: it provoked each member of the House to Think Very Hard About The World and develop a distinct opinion about the existence and meaning of Other Worlds:
Säve — They exist out there and you just need to venture far enough to find them.
Velle — They exist way out there, sort of, and you can discover them by writing stories about them.
Nolle — They can be described and instantiated by sufficiently sophisticated algorithms.
Y — They can be described and instantiated by sufficiently sophisticated language.
Gradually, the members of Goodbye House came to agree that pursuing the discovery of Other Worlds was a worthwhile aim for the main Work of the House, especially in the absence of any direct instruction otherwise. But there was no agreement about how.
(At this point, your mind is drawn toward the darkened Chambers and their Helms. Is that not an Other World you’d already visited?)
A Contract was conceived, to allow each member to pursue their own Theory in turn, and for the other members to support each plan in full earnest while awaiting their own turn. It was Velle’s peacemaking idea, and it was executed in the form of a Song provided by your Opposites. Each member sang a strictly scripted part in accordance with the Charmed pages of the written song, while your Opposites played it, loudly, through the transparent Wall, on their Charmed instruments. The Contract was binding.
