Find Out

Velle has a lot to explain, and it’s all right if you are a bit confused. She wants you to really get what’s been going on, so she takes her time with it, over Tea in the W’drawing Room, which has changed surprisingly little.

She starts by thanking you anew for her original Dress (“Mnemosynum”) and the new one (“Empyrean”). She puts on her Mask — old Threnody — to demonstrate the completion of her House Finery. She widens her eyes within it, drops into an even richer and more resonant descendant of her Mask Voice you knew so well, and proceeds to tell you the story of Goodbye House since the Periplus Age.

You’ve been able to be — to inhabit — Anise Vanda via the chairs in the darkened Chambers. Chamber 0’s Helm (as these chairs are called) first brought you to the Periplus Age, to witness the founding of Goodbye House. Chamber 2’s Helm has now brought you here to the Phlegmatic Age, some dramatic span of time later, when Goodbye House has become something quite more significant, and where you have the chance to be Anise once again, to witness another historic moment.

The Conversation about the Plumbago Mines that you all had during the Periplus Age was, as it turns out, a sort of a Turning Point. The Pit, the Palace, the Sky, the Face on the Moon, the fate of the House members — all can be traced back to it, because that Conversation was clearly the impetus for the creation of the Contract.
