Knock Knock Knock
You knock three times, just like that, and wait a few breaths. You didn’t see anyone in the Window, and you are not certain of precisely what you are expected to do once you arrive at the House. But knocking three times, just like that, seems like a reasonable step.
It occurs to you, just then, that you might be Dreadfully Late. It has been dark for a while now. Perhaps everyone who was supposed to arrive at the House has already arrived at the House. Perhaps everyone has long since retired for the day. Perhaps you are about to be embarrassed as soon as someone opens the Door.
Someone opens the Door.
