After Dinner, you take some of your Free Time to wander the House. Because you’ve always loved Underground, you find yourself heading down into the Basement. There, in a Side Room, you encounter a small Library. Most of the well-polished Shelves are populated by Books — including Cræft Catalogues, more than you ever had at home! Your attention is also drawn by an Akkade, similar but not identical to Nolle’s. There is a very peculiar Door, several feet off the Floor, maybe just big enough to crawl into.
But the Catalogues are irresistible. With a glance along the two and a half Shelves worth of Catalogs, you recognize many of the Editions you know so well from reading and rereading them in your Room, getting distant glimpses of all the varied and noble Craæfts that people pursue in hope of Vacating here to this City. You locate a Volume that was missing from an otherwise unbroken run of seven years in your own collection. In it are Cræfters whose Names you recognize, but whose Work you could only imagine until now: you find detailed reviews of the Cabinetry of de Noisy, the Tapestry of Scuffgate, the Song of Pääbo. Within a few minutes you are as inspired and motivated as you have ever been, despite your very recent wish, just now Upstairs, to become very small and never be called upon to make anything again.
The Dust down here is positively thrilled to have you around, and you are in a good enough mood to humor it quite graciously.
